Registration is now open for all of these fabulous retreats and workshops are filling swiftly. Our theme for 2013 is ART IS...LIFE. We are thrilled to introduce some new activities and opportunities at each venue. Special guests Ricë Freeman-Zachery and her wonderful Earl will be joining us in Nashville, Tracy and Teesha Moore will get those creative juices going in Petaluma, while the vivacious Melissa Bolton and Barbara Kessler will be back in Stamford.
Art is...ALL INCLUSIVE...This means that EVERY DAY you attend Art is...You, you will TAKE FLIGHT in a workshop of choice PLUS
participate in a daily morning inspirational sessions
enjoy coffee and tea at different times of the day
sit down to a huge buffet luncheon with your friends
take part in fun and artistic events in the evening
receive treats and gifts from many of our faculty, vendors and sponsors
enjoy handmade gifts from Ellen and Sallianne and so much more.
Why is Art is You so great? I could go on and on, but the main reason I love this retreat is that Art is You is an amazingly professional event, that cares about each and every instructor and student as if they were family. Oh?and Sal and Ellen make sure I have a martini waiting for me after each class (they actually don't, but I thought I'd thought I'd put it out there as a suggestion).Michael deMeng
Artists across the country are waking up to the power of each other, coming together. Be a part of the Art is...You movement!
We are back from our Thanksgiving Trip and I have to say it was wonderful and restful and awesome!
I hope you found your holiday to be the same and that, if you chose to go shopping, you found all of the bargains you were seeking. We normally tend to do our shopping via the internet and today is one of the best days to do that as it is officially Cyber Monday.
We decided to have to give a discount to those shopping today and have set up coupon codes of 10% for purchases up to $50 and of 15% at $50 or more.
There are some amazing treasures to be found at some wonderful prices so I hope you will check them out.

Just wanted you to know that I will be listing some new items in our Etsy shoppe tomorrow to help welcome in October. I hope you will stop by and check it out. The goodies will range from supplies for your own creations, vintage items and a few original items I've created. Be sure to check back in throughout the day as I will be listing items at different intervals...'cuz I'm sneaky like that.
Want a few hints? Well, I have one pair and one pair only of the petite santos hands, an old chair back with the most wonderful turnings and a set of beautifully framed vintage Sacred Heart prints (Jesus and Mary). Did that catch your interest? Maybe just a little?
Also, we will soon have handmade holiday items in the shoppe for you to peruse. It's that time once again (I know, I know...it's just October). <smile>
For purchases made on Saturday and Sunday (October 1st and 2nd) packages mailed to the Continental U.S. will have their shipping refunded back to them. Pretty neato huh?
I hope your Friday has been a good one so far. I have been fighting off a nasty sinus infection for the last couple of days and the antibiotic is not working so far. Tom called the doctor's office to see if they could change the meds I am taking but we have not heard anything yet. I am at work today and trying to make it through but not sure that is going to happen but we shall see. <smile>
I put together this little treasury today called A Pale Autumn. My inspiration was the little pumpkins......
I love gem tintypes, antique photo albums, cdvs, cabinet cards.....any vintage image really. What I found very recently is that I have an abundance of some of these so you will see more of them listed in my Etsy Shoppe, A Vintage Season.
Here are a few of the gem tintypes I listed this morning.....

These little gem tintypes are wonderful for your jewelry projects and for the larger collages where you need just a touch of "something" to bring the work to life. I just LOVE them!
Here is a bit of history of the Gem Tintype: The form of tintype (also referred to as ferrotype or sometimes melainotype) known as a "gem" is a small photographic image usually anywhere from 3/4" to 1" wide and 1¼" high made possible by the use of a multi-lens camera with repeating back which therefore could produce multiple exposures on a single photographic plate. In terms of quantity, the gem was the most prolifically produced form of photograph in the 1860s in America. Aside from the speed of its production, the gem was also inexpensive and its small size made it suitable for mounting in jewelry such as lockets and brooches. Like daguerreotypes and ambrotypes before it, hand colouring was also possible and rouging of the subject's cheeks was the most common form of this.
Pretty neat huh?
Go check out the Etsy shoppe....you never know what you might find....and we will see you back here tomorrow. <smile>
Thanks to everyone for your love and encouragement.
