Good Morning Everyone,

During a time in our lives when it feels like our economy will never be the same and people who never thought they would have to worry about money are having to feel those pressures it seems that it is so easy to get caught up in the WE that we forget that there are those that are dealing with much deeper issues.

In light of these feelings this morning I wanted to take a step out of the "Lesley" box and post/blog about a heart rending story that is happening right where Tom and I live in Virginia. 

It began on October 17, 2009 when a Virginia Tech student, Morgan Harrington, went to a Metallica concert with friends in Charlottesville, Virginia and vanished.  There is still no sign of Morgan although 2600 acres have been searched for clues of her disappearance.

The family has set up a website, a family blog and there is a reward available.  Please take the time to read about Morgan and to check out her photos and other stats.  Here is the link:

Help for a fellow artist...

Good Morning Everyone,

Tina Wright, a friend, fellow artist and one of the creators of Paper Cowgirl in Waxachie, Texas, recently found out she has advanced stage colon cancer. 

Tina has such a beautiful spirit and her determination and bravery in fighting this disease truly inspired me to want to reach out to this blogging and online community to ask for your help.  The costs of the tests, treatments and surgeries are just another stressor for family already having to deal with a diagnosis such as this so I have set up a Chip In for those that feel compelled to help.

I know that we have all been in those positions where someone has reached out and helped us and perhaps this will be seen as a time to pay that forward to Tina.  Every dollar helps so please give as you are able to.

I would also like to ask that if you blog or have a website that you place the Chip In Widget there as well so that we can get the word out to as many people as possible.  If you cannot get the widget on yoru blog please send your bloggers to mine so that they might also have the opportunity to help Tina.

Returning home....

Good Afternoon Everyone!!!

Wow, it feels like we have been gone forever and I guess to some extent we have been gone for an extended period of time. *S*

Our trek began on the 18th of September when we left for our "vacation" at the beach and ended when we returned from Art & Soul in Portland, Oregon last night. 

What an amazing group of people and event in Portland.  Glenny, Vonnie and the A & S Gang as well as Maria and the group from Collage made the event so wonderful and I can't wait to go back.  Mr. Lesley, along with his array of t-shirts from everywhere, became the A & S Fashionista and truly embraced his feminine side when he donned the pink Art & Soul sweatshirt. 

We got to hang out with Kerin & Charley from Remnant's of Olde and Jean from Charmed I'm Sure as well as my amazing students!!!!  Got to hug and talk to Kecia just for a moment and was able to send hellos to Judy Wilkenfeld by way of Mr. DeMeng.  Took a class with Opie and Linda and in addition to making a couple of cool jewelry pieces got to hear Opie play the accordian.  *S*

Do you remember when I took my first classes from Leighanna Light and I took like three classes from her?  She lovingly (well at least I think so) came to know me as her stalker.  Well, guess what....I got my own stalker and I do lovingly refer to Abby in that way.  Hi Abby!!!!  Thank you so much for believing in me and loving my style enough to take three of my classes!!!  I'm working on your private trunk show and will email you when it is ready.

Found some great antique shops, wonderful restaurants and forever friendships.  What more could one ask for?

I've missed blogging and that connection that can only be found in this Land O' Blog and I've missed my readers and reading posts.  So it is very n ice to be back home with our furry family and our own bed.  :)

What a week it has been....

Good Morning Everyone!!!

Wow this has been truly a beautiful and wonderful week here at the beach!!!  A lot of laughing, much needed rest and some fruitful excursions to some local antique malls.  *S* 

I must say that spending this time with our friends makes me realize how blessed we are having them in our lives.  They make our hearts happy indeed!!

Just a few reminders as we begin this weekend....

KC Willis' Art Studio Retreats....

Happy Monday Night Everyone!

Well, as promised here is the exciting news I was hinting at this morning....

Yours truly will be teaching a 3 day workshop in February, 2010 at KC's Artist Studio in Colorado!!!  I am so excited about this workshop and about visiting KC at this most beautiful time of the year!!

During these three days we will be bonding and sharing our stories as we create this large 8.5 inch by 8.5 inch altered book in the Bound Reliquaries workshop.

These beautiful books will be filled with alcoves and niches to honor our most treasured relics.  While we are working and warming our hearts Mr. Lesley will warm our tummies with his most delicious hot chocolate.
