A Worrisome Week...

Happy Thursday Everyone!

This has been a week of worries for me.

1st off I received a call from my internist who had recently done some blood work on me asking that I come in to see him regarding the results.  This happened Monday afternoon.  Immediately I begin to self diagnose based on this conversation.  I believe I am indeed Tom's Lunatic.  *S*

Then on Tuesday I went in for my annual mammogram (yes I still believe in annual mamms).  After being back at work I received a call stating that I needed to come back as there was something new showing up on my right side.  Luckily they were able to get me right back in so after about 7 more shots of the right side and an ultra sound it was determined that it was a simply a lymph node and nothing to worry about.  The radiologist was very kind and showed me everything he had seen. 

Yesterday I headed to the doctor to talk to him about the lab results (the call from Monday), prepared for a lot of things (mostly bad) but came out of his office having had a physical performed and with a clean bill of heath in hand.

I must admit that I was ready for today to be much calmer and it has proven to be just that, well medically anyway.  *S*  Tomorrow I go to see one more doctor (I see him annually after my mam because of past issues) and I am expecting him to be fine with everything too.

I know I don't normally post about really personal things here but it is one of the places I feel that I can truly be me and so I just went for it.  *S*

Preparing for Art Unraveled....

Good Morning Everyone!

Well, Mr. Lesley and I have been working hard preparing for Art Unraveled in Phoenix next week and one of the things we are bringing with us are these t-shirts featuring our original design, definition and logo...

 

 

 

 

 

As you can see the Art Husband definition we created is on the back of the shirt and the Art Husband logo is on the front of the shirt.  You can also have it customized for your own art husband like we did for Tom (seen in the bottom photo).

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Before I do today's musings post I wanted to let you all know that there is now a button on my sidebar (the right one) that links directly to Tom's blog.  See that cute little cherub?  Well, Tom chose that button because he said it was the one that most resembled him.  After this past weekend I have to agree that he is indeed an angel.  *S*

Yummy Yummy....

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Today's Yummy Yummy post will be a bit different as I focus on a place that I frequently visit.  It is about 7 minutes from my  garage to their front door and that is a very good thing...well in my opinion anyway.  *S*

This wonderful shop also has a website, an Ebay store and a blog so I will be linking to those at the end of the post.  For now I am going to talk about their beautiful merchandise in an attempt to have the wonderful women/artists/new friends I met this past weekend in Fredericksburg come to join me for a day of antique and salvage shopping.

If you know me you know that I like rusty things, items with chipping paint and a patina that tells the story of its years.  Black Dog Salvage is one of those places that you can wander into and not step out of for several hours. 

 

From the moment you see the wrought iron fencing and vintage gliders and chairs you are surrounded by when first entering into their parking lot and the beautiful stained glass windows housed inside their 40,000 square foot warehouse you will soon be hooked too....

 

 

 

 

 

The grounds and warehouse are full of the most beautifully rusted items you will ever see.  Old pieces of fencing and vintage ceiling tins....

 

 

 

 

 

More interested in the chippy paint?  How about antique mantels, old pieces repurposed into cabinets or even a set of doors from an antique street car?

 

 

 

Now these photos don't even scrape the surface of what they offer.  Old escutcheons and other hardware, old light and plumbing fixtures, rosettes, architectural salvage, chair spindles, garden items, etc.  Then in the back they have vendor booths that carry items ranging from the old to the very eclectic.  It is definitely a place worth seeing if you are ever in Roanoke.

Hotlanta...

We will be taking a trip soon to Atlanta and I would love to find the best flea market(s) to visit.  The best places for finding vintage goodies and antiques, where to stay, etc.

What has Lesley been doing?

Good Morning/Afternoon Everyone!

I've been working on some goodies over the last few weeks, or month/month and a half, and wanted to post a few photos here for you....

Doing a bit of coffee/tea staining of scome scrap pieces....

 

 

Then, I worked on some journal pages.....

 

 

Then I found this cool floor lamp stand and added it to one of my flower beds...

 

Then I made some tags for a special project or two...

 

And, have been putting together some things for trips to Arizona and California in August.

Yummy, Yummy...

Good Morning Everyone,

Okay, don't fall off of your chair just because you are seeing the return of the Yummy, Yummy posts.  *S*  I know it has been a bit but believe me there has been a reason for my absence and I will explain but not today as I want to get right to the good stuff!

If you have been reading my blog you know that I like to go wandering through the streets of this Land O' Blog to see what new things I can find.  Today as I was visiting my friend Alice I was introduced to Laura and her beautiful offerings.

I will tell you that the images that are on Laura's blog will make you swoon, gasp, sigh, dream and mentally redecorate your own spaces.

 

I love these artist supply boxes she has collected.  Aren't they beautiful?  The texture of the wood with it's stains and scratches.  Wow!!!

 

Being an avid lover of cloches the one above really caught my eye and has me wondering if that wasp nest on the side of my house is still there.  Isn't this a beautiful collection?  Such a simple composition that says so much.  Beautiful!!!

 

From the vintage buttons on a string.......

 

to a collection of vintage red shovels in a wagon, Laura's beautiful images and collections will amaze you.  When I look at these I find myself wondering who else has touched these, did they ever know how precious they would be to someone.

 

Architectural salvage.........I love it and I love this piece.  Old wood with its chippy paint and time worn battle scars still sturdy and durable yet feminine with it's delicate cut work. 

 

Another weakness of mine are these old mesh purses.  I have a collection of them, some enameled and some not, but I love the way she has used the aged tones of the metal and set them against the delicate white of vintage slips behind it.

 

There is so much to see at Laura's, so many beautiful things that I felt truly like I had stumbled into the best little antique shop that was filled with treasures at every turn.

 

You can tell that each item has been placed with care.  Each photo, each button, each find has been touched with a heart and hands that truly love them. 

 

Treasures tucked into each cubby show a desire to honor them for what they are.  Showcasing them to allow their beauty to shine through.

I love this beautiful addition to our Land O' Blog.  What wonders you will find as you step into Laura's world and her images envelope you in their beauty, grace and color.  Her words will weave stories for your mind to wrap around and you will find yourself slowing down to enjoy every moment you are spending in with her.

Monday's Musings...

Good Morning Everyone!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend.  Ours was busy and terrific!  Tom bought me this sign at the Market on Saturday that says "I love you to the moon and back" and surprised me with it.  He is the best and truly my soul mate and my heart is full of love for him.  *S*  Check out his blog for images and wonderful recipes daily.

I'm sure I have mentioned it in the past but I love iconic religious items.  Vintage images, sacred hearts, religious medals and rosaries.  Most would find this strange as I was raised southern baptist and converted to Episcopalian during my first marriage.  I love the comfort that the images bring to me, the peace they offer and the hope they portray.  With this in mind I thought I would focus today's post on those inspirational images.
